All requests for treatment are considered in accordance with the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act of 1990.
We have certain limitations based on the age of the woman and her chances of success.
Referral Procedure
Your first contact with the Leicester Fertility Centre may be the patient information evening or an informal visit to meet one of our nursing staff who will welcome you to the unit and explain the general procedure to you.
We need you to be referred by your GP or by a hospital consultant. There is often a considerable amount of information that the surgery will have about your infertility problems including relevant test results
Private treatment
For women requesting IVF/ICSI or IUI/DI treatment using their own eggs an AMH blood test will be carried out to assess fertility potential. Women using donated eggs must be 49 years or under.
Single women and lesbians are accepted for treatment but, as with all other couples, we have a statutory duty to consider the wellbeing of the unborn child and that of any existing children before we offer any licensed treatment.
The upper male age for treatment will be assessed on a case by case basis.
For all patients their BMI should be between 19 and 30.
Private clinics
The Leicester Fertility Centre private patient clinics are held at the Leicester Fertility centre Wednesday mornings and afternoons and Tuesday afternoons.
We also have availability on a Friday lunchtime and a Saturday morning.

NHS Referrals
Patients can be seen within 2 weeks for an initial appointment.
The Infertility Clinic at the Women's Hospital in the Leicester Royal Infirmary is the major provider of infertility treatment in the county.
NHS funding criteria
The criteria for NHS funded treatment will depend on that set by your primary care trust (PCT) or strategic health authority (SHA). These criteria vary between PCTs/SHAs.
