Your Journey with us

Pregnancy

Urine and a blood test to check for a pregnancy are carried out 2 weeks after embryo transfer.

The urine test is performed at your appointment in the clinic, and the result will be available on the same day. If the pregnancy test is negative, couples are invited to make a review appointment with one of the consultants, the review gives you an opportunity to discuss the cycle and options for the future.

If the test is positive, luteal phase support is continued and an ultrasound scan will be arranged for three weeks later. This will hopefully give confirmation of how the pregnancy is progressing. If the scan shows an on-going pregnancy patients are then discharged for antenatal care.

If sadly the scan does not show a clinical pregnancy couples have the opportunity to see one of the consultants to discuss their management. The counsellors are also available to help at this difficult time
